💡 Familyzap in short
How does Familyzap work?
One account for the household, one profile per person. Everyone taps their face on the phone and sees their quests for the day. Once done, a parent validates them if needed, the points land, and the family’s reward shop turns them into something real.
Do children have an account?
No. A child has a profile, created by a parent, with no e-mail or password. They can have their own code so nobody enters on their face. Settings wait for an awake parent.
Do I have to validate everything?
No. For each child you choose: I validate everything, only quests with a photo, or trust with a surprise check one time in five. A “Validate all” button and an evening recap save you from validating one by one.
Can a young child use it alone?
Yes. On the family phone, they tap their face and see their quests with big icons and a single “Done” button. The little speaker on the card reads the quest aloud to those who can’t read yet.
Do I need to install an app?
No. Familyzap runs in the browser and can be added to the home screen like an app. Five languages: French, English, German, Spanish, Italian.
Is Familyzap free?
Yes. Everything is open today, with no card and no trial period. The chore board and the rewards will stay free.
Are households public?
No. Each household has its own address, like name.familyzap.com, visible only to its signed-in members. It is not a page to index, and no address should be made up.
🛠️ Day to day
Do I need one phone per child?
No. A single phone or tablet left in the house is enough: everyone taps their face. If a child has their own, send them their personal link from Settings › Family. Or they type their first name at the household door: you get the request with a code, and you accept it from your notifications or read them the code.
What if I forget my code?
On your face, tap “Forgot your code?”: your password lets you pick a new one. A parent without an account asks the other parent to have their code chosen again from Settings › Family. For a child, do the same from their card.
Can a child cheat by ticking without doing?
You choose the trust level per child: I validate everything, only photos, or trust with a surprise check one time in five. Quests with a photo always go through you. And an already validated quest can go back to “redo” from its ⋯ menu: the points go back with it.
A child ticked their sibling’s quest. What now?
Give each child a code from their profile, Settings › Family: nobody can enter on someone else’s face anymore. For the wrongly ticked quest, “Not yet” sends it back if it is waiting for your validation; if it was already validated, “Actually, needs redoing” takes the points back.
How do I avoid validating fifteen times a night?
Set “Photos only” or “Trust” on reliable children, keep “I validate everything” for the little ones. The rest takes a single “Validate all”, from Today or from the evening recap, whose time you pick in Settings › General.
How do absences work?
Note judo, piano or the weekend at grandma’s in Settings › Activities, ticking “Unavailable for quests during this slot”. That day, the rotation skips the absent one; a quest always assigned to them goes to the pool.
Can I give extra points, or take some away?
Extra, yes: the “Add” button, Bonus tab, with your code, from 1 to 200 points with a note the child sees in their history. Take away, no: points only leave with the quest, by sending it back to “redo”.
Notifications don’t work on iPhone.
On iPhone, first add Familyzap to the home screen (Share button, then “Add to Home Screen”), then open it from there and turn on notifications from the Notifications page.
How long do notifications stay?
Until you clear them. The page shows the last fifty, the rest loads as you scroll. “Clear all” removes the settled ones and keeps those still waiting for an action.
Can I change the language?
Yes, in Settings › General › Advanced: French, English, German, Spanish or Italian. The language applies to the whole household.
Who sees our photos and messages?
Only the household’s profiles, signed in. Nothing is public, nothing is indexed, everything is hosted in France. Details are in the privacy policy.
How do I delete the household?
A profile, a photo or a message can be deleted in the app, by a parent. For the whole household, write to the address given in the privacy policy, from the account’s e-mail: we delete the account, the profiles and the photos, within a month at most.
