reward system for kids
A reward system for kids
A reward chart works when the child sees points go up and knows what to do with them. The rest is bookkeeping. We handle that.
How it works
-
1
Set the value of quests
A tedious task is worth more. A two-minute task is worth less. You decide, the board applies it.
-
2
Fill the shop
Pick from the catalog or invent: a reward, a cost in points, an icon.
-
3
Let the child choose
They see their balance, what they can afford, and ask. A parent confirms, the points go.
Points first, then a shop
Every quest is worth a number of points chosen by the parents. Call the points whatever you like: stars, coins, gems, hearts. When the child has enough, they spend them in the family shop: a movie night, picking dessert, thirty more minutes of screen time, an outing for two. The catalog suggests around twenty rewards, you add your own.
More than points
There are badges for streaks (five days in a row), levels that climb from Seed to Legend, and a hero of the week. It is not a trick: it is what makes a child come back to the board without being asked. And a parent can always adjust, add a bonus, or take points back if the quest was not really done.
Family shop
Rewards and prices are set by the parents. Nothing is imposed.
Badges and levels
Streaks, combos, levels from Seed to Legend. The child sees their progress.
Hero of the week
Every week, whoever helped most gets their moment. The month too.
Adjustable
Points per quest, bonuses, late penalties, the name of the points: all in the home settings.
Frequently asked questions
Do rewards have to be things?
No, and it is better if they are not always. Picking Saturday's movie or Sunday's outing works very well.
Can points be taken back?
Yes. A parent can make an adjustment, up or down, with a reason the child can see.
